RYA Sailing Courses are world renowned as having the highest standards of professional training within the yachting industry.
In Greece, as in many other countries, you legally need an official sailing certificate in order to charter a yacht.
WHO ARE THE RYA?
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the national body for all forms of boating under power or sail. Including dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sports boats, powerboat racing, windsurfing, inland cruising and narrowboats, and personal watercraft.
There are two options with the RYA Training Courses. Firstly, a private course (you hire your own yacht and have your own dedicated instructor). Or the more usual and traditional course structure of mixed individuals course.

We offer a full range of RYA Training Courses, using selected yachts, specially coded for RYA training.
Tailored courses meet the specific needs of the trainees whether this is your first time on a yacht or an already experienced sailor.
Sail Ionian only takes a maximum of 4 trainees on board on our group courses. The RYA regulations allow for up to 5 pupils per course. However, we feel a smaller group size gives us more time for individual attention and tuition. Thereby, offering the best learning experience and ability to be able to practice and demonstrate skills.
We are located in an perfect area for both sailing and power handling and aim to provide a unique, valuable and fun learning experience!
We are more than happy to teach different courses on the same yacht if you have crew of mixed experience.

ARRIVING FROM LEFKAS TOWN DIRECTION
Follow the signs for Vassiliki. When you approach Nidri, take the bypass around town – continuing to follow the signs for Vassiliki. At the end of the bypass, turn right. Follow the road for approximately 2km. You will pass a boat yard on your left and then enter the village of Vliho with the bay on your left. We are located just past the bakery with the offices on the right hand side.
ARRIVING FROM VASSILIKI DIRECTION
Follow the signs for Nidri, when you drive past the turning for Mikros Gialos, you will soon be able to see Vliho Bay. Follow the road carefully down the mountain. When you are at sea level, you will pass ELIN garage and a large bakery, continue for 1km and you will find the offices on your left hand side just past the Quay Café (red sign).
